Midlife Mystic Origin Story
Hi, I'm Mystic and this is my story.
Act 1: Suffering
I was born in London in 1977, and lost my dad in a tragic turn of events 2 days before my 4th birthday.
My mom quickly remarried, and her new husband had an American passport, so he moved us to Southern California and we lived in the San Fernando Valley.
The loss of my father remained a taboo subject, and I had a lot of unanswered questions.
Some of them were finally answered when I was in a drug rehab at age 17.

It turned out that my dad had hung himself, survived, then got diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and committed to a mental institution, where he died 9 months later.
The new guy my mom married turned out to be pretty hostile.
The one time I stood up to him—at 8 years old—he threw a dining chair at me.
I learned to keep my emotions inside.
I went to college to study the one subject I did well in at school—art.
But when I told people I was going to be a successful artist, they laughed at me.
So I changed my plans and decided to be a designer.
I became successful in the advertising industry, but a lack of confidence held me back.
At age 30, I realized the depression and insecurity I struggled with were connected to my early childhood experiences.
Act 2: Healing
This led me to start awakening to my potential and I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of being a musician.
I'd love to tell you I toured with Van Halen and Bob Dylan, but a lack of confidence continued to derail me.
I met my wife at 35, and we went to Africa and got married on safari in Tanzania.
It was incredible.
Her love, and the love of the kids we had together set me on a path to healing my past and discovering true love for myself for the first time in my life.
I joined an early-stage startup as head of UX, and spent 7 years scaling their product to 35 million customers, and a billion-dollar acquisition.
Then I got recruited by one of the biggest companies in the world to lead design for a 1,000-person organization.
I was designing the future.
Having an impact.
Thriving financially.
But the culture was chaotic, unhealthy, and work-life balance was non-existent.
Act 3: Thriving
I was 47 when I left my career.
I'd art directed global ad campaigns.
Built a billion-dollar company.
Led design at a trillion-dollar company.
I decided it was time to do my own thing.
But I was tired of pushing so hard.
I was burned out.
After leaving my career, I laid in bed one morning not knowing what I was meant to do with my life.
I'd tried a number of things that hadn't worked out, and was starting to feel like a failure.
That's when the divine greeted me.
An angel came in through my bedroom window and said, "You're the Midlife Mystic, dude."
So I started telling my story online as Mystic.
And it reached millions of people all over the world.
I learned that I wasn't alone in being in midlife and hungry for transformation and deeper meaning.
I realized that I am meant to be a guide to others on similar journeys.
Instead of forcing, I practiced listening.
And what came to me was Kumara.
A simple 5-step framework that helped me start thriving in a way I never had.
No more selling myself out to corporate employers.
No more giving my power away.
I started teaching Kumara in online workshops, and participants experienced remarkable changes in life and business.
Now, I've formalized the program and am excited to share it with you.
